Fred Thibault-Starzyk is Directeur de Recherche in the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). He is a chemist, working in spectroscopy in catalysis.
Catalysts, and especially zeolites, are amongst the main tools for the chemical industry. Infrared spectroscopy allows observing molecules during their reaction on the surface of the solid catalysts. Fred Thibault-Starzyk designed experimental methods for understanding the surface chemistry induced by light, microwave or plasma for a new energy efficient and sustainable chemistry.
Fred Thibault-Starzyk prepared his PhD in Caen (FR) and hold positions in Leuven (BE), Cambridge (UK) and Caen, where he was the Director of the Laboratoire Catalyse et Spectrochimie from 2010 to 2015. From 2016 to 2020, Fred was the Director of the Maison Française in Oxford where he combined natural sciences with social sciences and humanities.
